Melkbosstrand (Afrikaans for “Milkbush beach”) is a quaint coastal village and beach located on the South West Coast of South Africa, just 35 km north of Cape Town. Named after the species of Euphorbiaceae bushes which grow on the dunes commonly referred to simply as Melkbos. The town and its 7 kilometers stretch of white sand beach are situated on the Atlantic coast with the Blouberg mountain to the east. The beach is popular with surfers, kite-surfers, and windsurfers.

The town is situated just south of Koeberg Nature reserve which hosts a number of indigenous game, initiating a game drive of 100km up the west coast. The area is home to a number of game farms including Thali Thali and the West Coast National Park and is famous for its landscape of flowers in spring. When you visit us, you will experience a charming, comfortable home with everything you need to relax and enjoy the ethos of our traditional and quaint little coastal town – Melkbosstrand.

We are situated in a cul-de-sac that offers a general relaxed and private feel from when you get out of your car to when you get into the pool or light the fire.
The beach is just around the corner (+/- 500m) and when you visit, you will find a variety of options from kelpy Rocklands to white sandy beaches surrounded by restaurants, to long stretches of quiet walking beaches, all within a kilometer of your haven.

Come and enjoy the cottage feel while not deferring from the luxuries of a complete kitchen, pizza oven and entertainment rooms with indoor and outdoor fire areas and a swimming pool.

• There are a lounge and an entertainment room with a pizza oven built in.
• Both the lounge the entertainment room is large (8 x 4) and have sleeper couches, so at a push, we could accommodate up to 8 guests. There is also a cot provided.
• There is also a 3 x 6m outside room with an en-suite toilet.
• The whole house goes for R2000.00 per night and we don’t adjust for a number of guests

• Walking/Hiking around the local areas or up the mountain.
• Cycling in the nature reserve with some indigenous game
• Sailing, waterski or just enjoying the beach and restaurants and wine routes nearby.
• Unwind in the holiday atmosphere with everything you need close by.
• And if you don’t want to drive, we are just around the corner from the bus routes.

Meet the Owners

Our names are Robert and Gerda Bower. We’ve lived in Melkbosstrand for 18 years now and love it here. I am an avid surfer, diver, kite surfer and general outdoors enthusiast. I am regularly on the beach with the dogs or cycling through the town. We enjoy interacting with our guests but allow people their privacy. Should any guest need information about the area and where to get the best out of their time here, I am keen and willing. Gerda is passionate about ensuring that the home is perfect and thrives on positive feedback.

Guest Payment Policies

• Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of the 50% deposit.
• The balance of payment is payable before arrival.

Cancelation Policy

• 1 month before arrival date – full refund of deposit
• 2 weeks before arrival date – 50% deposit refund
• 1 week before arrival date – 25 % deposit refund
• Less than 1 week before arrival date – no refund
