Cottages

FairyDen Cottage

• A standard level cottage and it is the perfect Private Hideaway Haven.
• This cottage is very popular with budget honeymooners or those wanting to be as private as possible.

Foxglove Cottage

• A standard level cottage and is a Gorgeous Garden Delight.
• This cottage is popular with families, and groups of mountain-bikers who often book Fairy Den and Foxglove to be close together, pensioners who enjoy gardens and bird-watching, and budget honeymooners.

Fieldmouse Cottage

• A luxury-level cottage and a Secluded Birder’s Paradise.
• This cottage is very popular with luxury honeymooners, twitching bird-lovers or especially larger nature-loving families.

Froggy Pond Cottage

• A luxury-level cottage and perfect for Romantic Reflections.
• It is popular with Honeymooners and for Romantic Getaways, and of course, bird-lovers who enjoy twitching right from their stoep or hammock!

Firefly Cottage

• A luxury-level cottage that is Eco-friendly, offering  Luxury & Privacy.
• This cottage is very popular with honeymooners, nature-loving families and eco-enthusiasts.

Rates

1. 1. Quoted per 2-bedroom fully equipped self-catering cottage.
   2. Kids up to 23 months old stay free if bringing own cot – let us know to adjust your pricing.
   3. Cottages are NON-SMOKING: Smoke on stoep only.

Booking Requirements:

• 50% deposit Proof of Payment required within 12 hours of booking; even if the actual transfer will take longer.  Lapsed bookings cost R200 admin fee to reload and you lose any discount/exception granted.
• Balance due 10 days prior to arrival or the booking may be forfeited without refund.
• 100% deposit required on arrivals within 10 days or less; or with specials / as specified.

Cancellation Policy:

• Bookings cancelled >10 days before arrival forfeits the deposit. As a Holding Deposit, it is non-refundable; we regret no exceptions, even for personal emergencies, infrastructural lapses, or Acts of God.  Guests pay for the right to the room rather than the room itself.  If you make a payment, you indicate acceptance of non-refundability.
• Bookings cancelled <10 days prior to arrival forfeits (or are charged) the full booking amount. This also applies to non-arrival, late arrival or early departure.
• If we, at our discretion, allow any change in booking dates/terms/persons, an R200 admin fee will be levied per change requested.
• If we, at our discretion, refund any amount, an R500 admin fee applies.

Full accommodation payment has to be received before cottage keys will be released.

Please Note

Breakage/key deposit of R500 is charged/reserved before cottage keys are released. All missing items, breakages in and damage to cottages, furniture, fittings, soft furnishings, roads, fencing, gardens, extras costs and fines will be charged to the guest; this is not limited to the key deposit. No dispute discussion regarding breakages or damage will be entertained unless a guest reports the same within one hour of checking in.

Check-In & Check-Out Times

We are a personally run business and cannot staff Reception like a large hotel. But we do offer:

• Check-in: 15:00-20:00
• Check-out: 08:30 – 10:00.

R300 surcharge will be levied on early/late arrivals or late departures. It can be pre-arranged, if we can assist you. If not pre-arranged you may arrive at CLOSED DOORS / AN UNREADY COTTAGE. Departure after 12:00 will be charged an additional night at listed rates. If we expect new guests we may access the cottage at 10:00 regardless.

Meet your Hosts

Amanda and Danie Jansen van Vuuren purchased Forest Edge Self-Catering Cottages Knysna in June 2016. Danie is an ex-“corporate animal” who saw the light and moved with Amanda to Hermanus, whence they moved to Forest Edge. He managed large city-based corporates for more than 20 years, including leading marketing & eventing agencies and he will put these skills to good use at Forest Edge. Amanda owns a Group Travel & Eventing business; she plans to host some unforgettable boutique weddings & events at Forest Edge soon.
