Albert and Thereza du Toit welcome you to Du Vlei. Experience the unique, warm hospitality of farmers in the heart of the Swartland.
Du Vlei is situated 7km from the picturesque Riebeek-Kasteel, on the bank of the Bergriver. The big original farmhouse, dating back to 1704, was renovated into 4 spacious, fully equipped, self-catering units. The old wine cellar, harness-, mill-; milk-rooms were renovated into luxurious guestrooms.
Relax on the veranda and experience the breathtaking views of the mountains, the Bergriver and the vineyards with the awesome sound of fish eagles crying in the background. A birdwatcher’s dream. All this whilst your children enjoy the huge garden with expansive lawns to play on and a sparkling pool.
Only 75km from Cape Town, 1 hour from Cape Town International Airport; a few minutes drive from several wedding venues; wine/olive estates.
Meet your Hosts
Your hosts Albert; Thereza established Du Vlei in 1999 when Albert’s parents decided to retire and moved out of the original farmhouse. The farm has been in the family since the early 1900s.
Albert’s father came to the farm when he was 11 months old and since then the Du Toit-family has been farming with grapes, vegetables, wheat, sheep; cattle on this 500ha farm in the Boland.

Apartments
All the self-catering units’ kitchens are fully equipped; have a TV/Living-area.
Cabernet
This unit still has the original farm-kitchen with a wooden-stove if you do not want to use the electrical one. The bathroom has a shower, etc.
It is ideal for the larger family:
- Sleeps: 6 guests
- Bedrooms: 1 double bed & 1 room with 4 single beds.
Pinotage
- Bedrooms: Two huge bedrooms (1 double bed & 2 single)
- Open-plan kitchen/living/TV-area.
- Bathroom with both shower & bath, etc.
Shiraz
Biggest of them all!
- Bedrooms: 3 bedrooms (1 double bed, 2 single & 1 bunk-bed)
- Private veranda overlooking Bergriver, mountains & vineyards.
- Bathrooms: 2 bathrooms, 1 with bath, other with a shower, etc.
- Indoor braai room with TV.
Viognier
- Bedrooms: Two lovely bedrooms (1 double, 2 single), overlooking the garden & vineyards.
- Open-plan kitchen/living/TV-area.
- Bathrooms: Bathroom with shower, etc.
Guest Rooms
All the luxurious guestrooms have coffee-making facilities; share a communal fully equipped kitchen.
Chardonnay
The old wine cellar renovated into a lovely bedroom with 2 single beds & bathroom (with a shower, etc.) on the ground floor and 2 single beds upstairs.
Grenache
A huge room, that used to be the milk room, now with 2 single beds & bathroom (with a shower, etc.) downstairs. A double bed & 2 singles in the loft.
Hanepoot
Formerly the harness room, but now a beautiful guestroom with 2 single beds as well as a bathroom with a shower, etc. below and 2 single beds up the wooden staircase.
Mourvedre
The mill room was renovated into this beautiful room that sleeps 4 (2 singles downstairs & 2 in the loft). Bathroom with shower, etc.
Riesling
Wheat was milled into flour many years ago in this room that now accommodates 4 people. (2 single beds both down- & upstairs & a bathroom with a shower, etc.)
The 5 rooms are all equipped with a fridge, kettle, glass, coffee mugs and each room has its own bathroom. They all share a kitchen, microwave, and stove.
