Best time to visit Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is quite warm (30-35 degrees Celcius) in the peak of summer (December through February), but it’s still lovely to visit in February through April. During mid-December to the beginning of January, the university is generally closed for the student holidays and less busy.
The winter months (May-August) also present the Winelands in a beautiful mountainous winter setting where you can indulge in red wine in front of ample fireplaces located in accommodation and restaurants. It’s not really that cold (no snow apart from on very high mountain peaks), so would still be most enjoyable on sunny days too.
There are many different accommodation options from rustic farm cottages to five-star hotels.
Don’t leave without going on a wine day-tour. We have concierge/shuttle options for your day-trip to the Winelands too if you’re staying in central Cape Town or surrounding areas.
