There are many hiking trails in the area, ranging from moderate to strenuous. Fernkloof Nature Reserve has over 40 km of trails, in the beautiful mountains that form an imposing backdrop to the town. Including cliff walks that boast a variety of coastal fynbos and birdlife.
Or take a leisurely stroll on the pristine stretches of beach, that include Voëlklip Beach and the broad Grotto Beach, overlooking Walker Bay.
There is also a Hermanus Wine Route, which is the southernmost in Africa, and produces top quality and world renowned wines.
While Hermanus retains its fisherman’s village charm, it has all the moderns amenities, ranging from many restaurants, shops and markets. It is also only 140km from Cape Town, and a charming base from which to explore the greater Cape Overberg area.
