About the area

Camps Bay is an affluent suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. In summer it attracts a large number of foreign visitors as well as South Africans. The beachfront of Camps Bay is a long stretch of white, palm tree-lined sand and there is a seasonal life guard station with toilets at the western end of the beach.

The beach is opposite Camps Bay’s main tourist hub, featuring multiple hotels, shops, and a series of pavement cafes, bistros and restaurants specialising in Mediterranean fare that has earned Camps Bay its trendy and cosmopolitan character. The area hums all day and in especially at night when Cape Town’s trendier set come out to play.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Camps Bay is during summer, from November to March (and even April). In order to avoid disappointment, it’s usually best to book at least 6 months in advance, especially if you are booking summer holiday rentals.
